Owen’s Fantastic Grid Homework Olympic Story

Task: To write a story about competing in the Olympics using adjectives, adverbs and exciting words (8A)

As I stepped into the arena I thought I could hear the crowd chanting my name it was like being in heaven! It was a glorious day. The sun was shining and the blustery wind had died down. I was nervous so I felt shaky and excited. I had been working for this for so long. It felt like I had been training for 1000 billion zillion years. Confidently I walked out onto the court. I held my tennis racquet in the air and everyone cheered but they weren’t cheering for me, they were cheering for my opponent who was called Andy Murray! I was disappointed that we weren’t cheering for me but I didn’t really care because at least I was in the Olympics. We practised hitting to each other and then the big competition began…

I served a ball at 500 miles per hour. It was an ace. I won the first set. Then it was Andy Murray’s turn to serve. I won that set too. If I won the next set I would be victorious! I felt over the moon because I was two sets ahead of him but the people were still calling his name. I had to serve to win an Olympic gold medal and I had to focus on the game. My last shot was a smash over the net and Andy Murray hit it but it went out of the stadium. I had won Olympic Gold for the first time in my life I was ecstatic and I did a back flip! I went on the podium to get my medal, Andy Murray had come second and I had come first. The people were calling my name for the first time.

Minibeast Hunt

Our Science lesson this week was spent outside, in the glorious sunshine, hunting for minibeasts. We visited a woodland area behind our AstroTurf pitch and we were amazed at the wildlife hidden beneath the trees.

Here are photos from our session. Can you comment with answers to these eight questions?

1. What is this first photograph showing?

2. Which amphibian did we see on our hunt?

3. Can you name this minibeast?

4. Can you name this minibeast?

5. Why did we use paintbrushes during our minibeast hunt?

6. What are these minbeasts called?

7. Which minibeast would create this web?

8. Which equipment did we use on our minibeast hunt?

Times Tables Buddies

This morning we buddied up with the Year 6 boys to challenge their times tables knowledge. It was lovely to visit the senior school and work alongside such brilliant mentors.

Each boy in 2WA has been appointed a buddy to work with each week.
