Weighing

The boys had to weigh different objects in Maths today. They were surprised just how many cubes they needed to balance their shoe or a book!

Making Circuits

2WA visited the Senior School Science Laboratories this morning to create circuits using different components. The boys enjoyed using cells, switches, buzzers, motors and bulbs.

Here is a link to a brilliant activity that you can access at home,

Measuring

This week we have been estimating and measuring using rulers and metre sticks.

Here are five measuring activities –

(1) How long is a stick of spaghetti? Is it the same length after it has been cooked?

(2) Measure the length of your foot. Then measure the distance between your wrist and your elbow. Compare the two distances.

(3) Can you make your own ruler?

(4)  Estimate, measure and draw lines to the nearest 1 cm, 3 cm, 9 cm, 12 1/2 cm and 6 1/2 cm?

(5) Can you measure the length and width of your bedroom?

Comment to let us know how accurate you were. Thank you.

Our trip to the William Morris Gallery

We had a fantastic day at the William Morris Gallery today. The Georgian house was stunning and the gardens lovely. The boys really enjoyed learning more about William Morris, his family and friends.

William Morris was an active socialist. Can you remember what a socialist is?

A highlight was block printing in the style of William Morris. Can you describe the pattern that you printed using this method?

One of William’s daughters became famous in her own right. Do you remember her name?

Enjoy our photos of this very successful trip.
