Heating Materials
We visited the Science lab to test what happens when different materials are heated. We made predictions and observed the changes.
Can you remember the different items we put in the glass beakers?
Can you remember what happened to them when they were heated? Use the words ‘melt’, ‘boil’ and ‘burn’ to describe the changes.
Can you remember the names of the equipment we used?
Been There Done It
Mrs Price would like to invite all the boys who are taking part in ‘Been There Done It’ to some Drop In sessions to celebrate the work they have done so far. These sessions will be open to all boys on the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Please bring your scrap books to the 2P classroom between 8.00-8.25am on either Monday 10th, Wednesday 12th or Friday 14th February.
She will be delighted to see any amount of work and there is no obligation to have finished. It will be lovely to see what the boys have been doing and talk to them about their experiences. The boys will need to be accompanied by an adult as these sessions take place before school.
If none of these sessions are suitable, Mrs Price is more than happy to look at scrapbooks at another time. She always enjoys seeing them!
Please could we also take this opportunity to remind you about the ‘Been There Done It’ blog which can be accessed through the school website. Mrs Price often posts additional activities and ideas which can particularly useful if your son has finished his passport.
Finally, please do let us know if you need replacement scrapbooks or passports. Please don’t let lost resources hold you back from completing the activities.
What a busy week!
We have had a busy week writing newspaper reports in English, learning about Global Warming in Topic, following directions in Maths and visiting the local church in RS! Photos of the trip will follow soon.
If you enjoyed giving and following directions, you might like to play these games

Materials- testing the strength of different plastic bags
We tested the strength of five plastic bags in our Science lesson.
Our investigation was a fair test because we only changed one variable each time. Do you remember which variable was changed?
It was interesting to discover that two bags were the strongest. Do you remember which bag was the weakest?
Can you test the strength of other plastic bags at home? Make sure that an adult helps as the bags get very heavy.
Plastics
Plastics are materials made from chemicals and are not found in nature. They are strong and waterproof, and can be made into any shape by applying heat. Plastics can also be dyed different colours or made to be transparent. Plastics are used to make all sorts of things, such as bags, bottles and toys.
Have a look at the BBC Bitesize website to find out more about plastics and other materials.
